DONATIONS OF MATERIALS TO HILO
PUBLIC LIBRARY
Please
bring your donations to the front desk. If you want a receipt
please count your items. Staff
will fill out the library receipt with
the count provided and sign. No value is
given.

- Books, magazines, and other
library materials are accepted all year.
- Must be in clean
and useable condition (no mold, no mildew, no bugs).
- All donated materials will
be reviewed for library needs, then passed on to the HPL Friends.

Collection
- New material (if you would
like to buy materials or donate money for library materials): please consult a librarian who will help make
suggestions as to library needs and desires.
- Lightly used recent
publications: accepted and subject to
library selection policy.
- Older, very
clean, materials may be used as replacements as needed.

Library Friends
- Textbooks:
no more than 5 years old
- Encyclopedias:
full sets only, no more than 5 years
old
- Children’s materials: all accepted
- Hawaiiana:
all accepted
- Paperbacks:
only clean and in very good condition
- Records:
Hawaiiana desirable
- Commercially produced DVDs
and CDs.
- Commercially produced videos
and cassettes (no mold, no mildew)

- Current general interest
magazines: no more than 1 year old
- Current weekly news
